The goals of Flag For Liverpool (FFL) are:

• Convince Liverpool City Council that the current Liverpool Flag should be replaced
• Provide guidance on how to design a new Liverpool flag
• Host submissions for a new Liverpool Flag design
• Host and promote a competition to decide a new Liverpool flag
• Agree on a panel of experts who will judge the suitability of submissions and give guidance on flag design
• Produce and circulate flags and other merchandise (pin badges for example) for submitted flag designs
• Encourage Liverpool City Council to adopt the winning design as the official flag of the city of Liverpool
• Register the winning design with the Flag Institute
